The events of Tales of Xillia Remastered are set in the world of Rieze Maxia, and through the unique perspective of two characters, players uncover a conspiracy involving dangerous military technology that threatens the balance between humans and spirits.

Tales of Xillia Remastered combat retains the Dual Raid Linear Motion Battle System, which allows real‑time switching between melee and ranged attacks, combo finisher moves, and linked skills with party members. Thanks to the remaster, input feels more responsive, new features like a retry option make dealing with tougher encounters less punishing, and The Grade Shop is now unlocked from the very first playthrough. However, there are not many enhancements to gameplay. 

The narrative strength of Xillia lies in its dual-protagonist approach, where choosing Jude or Milla at the start significantly alters your perspective on events. Jude’s journey explores themes of idealism versus reality as he grapples with his role as a healer in a world of conflict, while Milla’s path delves into duty, sacrifice, and humanity.
